Welcome to the Family!
Coed Four Teacher Brad HoisingtonWelcome to our Adult Sunday School class. Throughout the year our class participates in a number of social events that are geared to draw us closer together. Some of these include our annual Valentine "Newly Wed Game" dinner, annual chili cook-off, and annual Christmas party. Other events include cook-outs, bowling events, pool parties and various other celebrations. And as always, our focus is on him who saved us by his grace, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
In serving Christ, our class is also involved in many areas of ministry inside and outside the church. While our salvation is not based on works, we believe service to be one of the ways we can honor Christ’s sacrifice for us. Plus, the opportunity to serve offers us the blessings of a great sense of fulfillment and purpose as a class, not to mention being recognized as His followers from our manner and faith. We take Christ’s commandment and challenge in the Great Commission as our driving goal and would be pleased to have you join us! Below is a list of just some of the ministries we are currently working in:
Class members serve in the children’s department (aged birth to 5th grade) during the 9:30 or 11:00 am worship service. This schedule rotates monthly with other SMBS classes.
When, due to a medical or other acute issue, a class member needs help, the class ministers to that member by coordinating, preparing and delivering meals for him/her and family.
We maintain weekly contact via mailed cards, phone calls, and email to guests and members who were absent on Sunday, those that are sick or recovering from surgery and to recognize class members on birthdays and other anniversaries.
The class collects quality used clothes which are then distributed free of charge to residents of pre-selected communities in need. Food, gospel music, fellowship, power bands, and Bibles are also provided to share Christ’s love.
School supplies and children’s clothing are acquired and donated when a particular need is identified.
Members participate in a Christian devotional held at Pinewood House Assisted Living in Crowfield Plantation every Friday at 10am to minister to the homebound elderly.
A Christian devotional and fellowship are held at the Goose Creek Manor Nursing Home on Tuesday at 6:30pm on a rotating five-week basis to minister to the homebound elderly. Cookies and juice are provided. At Christmas, our class purchases an array of small gifts which are offered to the residents, including gift wrapping that can be used for themselves and to give to friends and family.
During the Christmas season, the class always seeks to identify a needy family that we can provide with gifts and food which they otherwise might not be able to afford.
